Bushman Mystique
Funny thing about peoples' odd exploits, those that are anti-social, shun social conventions, and if they just happen also to be sociopaths, even psychopaths, a special aura of romance seems to surround them in the opinions of some who follow their defiant stance.
Someone, for example, who has learned certain survival skills enabling him to evade justice by remaining at loose, living rough, in the bush where few others are capable of sustaining themselves. For who among us, in these modern times, is able to adapt to living without the modern conveniences we have all become accustomed to?

After all, civilization comes complete with security for the masses and justice meted out in discipline for those who offend societal conventions.
And what if someone goes even further than petty crime, committing acts of criminal malfeasance so serious that law and security agents must apprehend them, incarcerate them, bring them before a court of justice so a trial can be held where all the deeds that this person has been guilty of are enumerated, classified, discussed and he is held accountable.
For we all are imbued with free will, and there are those among us, who scorn law and order, and impulsively take whatever it is that they covet. Whether or not this is accomplished at great harm to others. Including the taking of human lives. Well, there are exacting punishments for those types of social infractions, which explains why it is that Malcolm Naden fled the law.
He was, in any event, reclusive in nature. Add that to his proficiency in martial arts, his peculiar attraction to religion, and his obsession with survival manuals and crime books. Inspiring himself to a life that defied convention and normal human intercourse. As he buried himself in the Australian bush while evading the law and eventual justice, he broke into holiday homes.
In so doing, taking what he felt he needed. But doing so politely, in a very civil manner. Careful not to leve a mess behind for the hhouseholders to discover. Wanting to upset people as little as possible, perhaps, but who knows? Demonstrating what a perfectly nice man he truly, really was, perhaps. He may enlighten the authorities now that he has been captured.
It seems he had the admiration of many who
