Mouth agape, one reads the complaints and heartbreak of two lost souls who pined to be loved and found themselves-- according to their continual testimonials -- heartlessly, unceremoniously turned away and left to their own sad devices by a family too fixated on the trappings of responsibilities they inherited as a Royal Family, busying themselves with official duties and failing to adequately embrace the two waifs who tremble with indignation that their plight of insecurity was not recognized, leaving them inadequately cuddled and coddled.
Harry, poor Harry, was 'terrified' when his older brother shouted at him. Oh dear, that really is terrifying, poor lad. "It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me and have my father say things that simply weren't true and my grandmother sit there and sort of take it all in", a shaken Harry recalled for the avid news media. His father, now England's reigning King with the death of Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, might have done as fathers do; recriminating a self-absorbed son for public statements viewed through the lens of resentment and self-pity.
And the grandmother, frail and beyond elderly, sitting there wondering why it all went wrong when they all tried so hard to accommodate themselves to every whim and whimsy of this boy yet to assume the emotional mantle of a man, and to no avail. Wondering, no doubt, why he might feel entitled to have exhausted their patience, and regretting that his unbecoming petulance had alienated his ailing grandfather, in the process tarnishing her love for the boy. No little regretful that the love and care lavished on poor Harry was reciprocated by bitter remonstrance that had no basis in reality.
But then, of course, there was Meghan, who so adeptly and with malice aforethought, encouraged and incited little Harry's sense of having been neglected. There is no justice, she urged him, other than that which we will ourselves invoke. And to that end, setting out in a conspiracy of two egos addicted to sanctimoniously demanding they be left in the peace of anonymity, while assiduously conniving to raise their relationship to the celebrity status of the creme de la creme; in the process destroying the respect held for the British Royal Family.
The crass goal of slanderous mischief in exchange for proposed insider revelations through the lens of a bitter, noxiously-constructed narrative of neglect, psychic torment and racism would have its handsome rewards in generous contracts reflecting the value of smashing the delicate iconography of Royal service and gracious civility. They would abandon their titles and the perquisites that come with the dedication to upholding the honour of a heritage institution, while reaping a windfall.
They could, and would and did besmirch the reputations of their entire family, scorching the truth to present their version of reality, one nursed as a victim seeking vengeance where reality is whatever you want it to be in the knowledge that the Royals would never succumb to the solution taken by ordinary folk, to sue the malefactors who slander them, for the restoration of their dignity and reputation. Turning the other cheek with grace and forbearance, King Charles has invited his wayward son and daughter-in-law to his upcoming formal Coronation.
When and where they will take the opportunity to once again shoot protocol-forbidden photographs and indulge their imaginations in additional instances of racism committed against Meghan and their biracial son and daughter. All the while courting their adoring public who see them as validated not disgraced, while whetting the appetites of the sensationalist tabloids making it certain they will be assiduously followed, their every phrase and quip maligning their family repeated with delight.
Giving Harry the opportunity to blame journalists yet again for not only the death of his drama-thespian mother but as well, the miscarriage of his wife. Following, in fact in the footsteps of his mother, Princess Diana, fondly named the Princess of Tarts whose own intrigues and claims and complaints Harry appears to have inherited in large part. Harry and Meghan, if any two people ever deserved one another, it is they.
