"All Used"
Imagine, winning a lottery. Winning big time, actually. The thought of having a million dollars not so long ago was capable of setting off sparkling stars in peoples' eyes. This elderly couple, living in Nova Scotia won the Atlantic Lottery to the tune of over eleven million dollars. $11,255,272, to be precise. That's a lot of money. That happened in July, this past summer. They've managed to burn through most of that money, but still have a modest amount set aside.
Isn't that just like people, to rashly spend ten million dollars in a virtual blink of an eye? They claimed the win in July and here it is, early November and most of that winning is gone, history. Well, it's expensive to buy high-priced vehicles and palatial country homes, upscale urban apartments, fully-equipped cottages on beautiful lakes, personal planes, holidays at elite resorts, hand-crafted and designed jewellery, isn't it? None of that?
Oops, none of that. Allan and Violet Large obviously live up to their surname; they think big. Having been prudent throughout their working lives they set aside sufficient in retirement funds to live comfortably, thank you very much. They had no need of that whopping win. But they knew people who could benefit from it, and charitable institutions as well.
Yes, the money is gone, but as the saying goes - to a good cause. To many good causes, in fact. They set about compiling a list of people and charities they meant to benefit from their good fortune. They looked after the financial affairs of their family members, and then they turned to their community, and gave generously. That took care of their winnings.
Remarkable and admirable to the final degree.
Allen and Violet Large won the $11.2 million 6/49 draw.
