Her powerlifting career has skidded to a halt. A two-year ban has been ordered by the sanctioning body of the Canadian Powerlifting Union on April Hutchinson for having spoken up yet again over the injustice of a 'transwoman' overwhelming her sport; a biological male purporting to be a woman, using his superior male musculature to abduct a female sport from women whose biological properties in strength and endurance are not meant to compete with a male's.

She is certainly not alone in the dilemma she faces. Other women's sports are similarly invaded by males claiming to be women, salivating at the opportunity to succeed in a sport where as men competing in male sports, they're unable to achieve top spot, but as males competing as female in women's sports, making quite a splash, including in swimming  competitions. 

Frustratingly, in the current social climate of accepting that either male or female can simply state that they are more comfortable with the other gender, they are being accommodated in the gender they select, intrusively entering a domain previously exclusive to the gender they've chosen. Trans activists are known for their leap at the jugular for anyone who might question the ease of transition as opportunistic or pointing out that the science of natural biology identifies two genders only; male or female.

 

Born male and achieving all the biological properties genetically inherent in masculinity and then deciding dissatisfaction with biological gender is an attitude, perhaps not delusional but sadly abnormal. Most of the transitions appear to be largely male-to-female. Instances where biological males claiming to be female bearing an ongoing attraction sexually to females endanger women's safety. 

 

And in the case of sports competition, rob women athletes of the gains they have made in equality with men in all fields of human endeavour.  In Ms. Hutchinson's specific case, she has been warned by the CPU not to refer to transgender women competitors as "biological males". The CPU has a formal policy, like many other sports programs, of accepting biological men as transfemales as a reflection of the general social-equality atmosphere prevailing in today's world.

 

That this is a policy that penalizes women appears not to bother men in the position of making these decisions. Riley Gaines, the NCAA swimmer spoke out against transgender women competing against her along with other biological women and things did not go well for her. None of which has caused Ms. Hutchinson to waver in her determination to correct a situation harmful to women's aspirations, health and safety. 

Trans powerlifter Anne Andres shattered a national powerlifting record in a category for women between ages 40 and 50 -- at a summertime meet in Manitoba -- who make no use of supportive equipment like a squat suit. The women's record for deadlift, an event in which a barbell is hoisted from the ground to thigh level was broken by a biological male now identified as a female.

 

Leading Ms. Hutchinson to post on social media concerns she has related to "The unrestricted participation of male-born athletes in the women's category of competitive powerlifting". And now she is being punished as a woman protesting an environment whereby a man can state himself to be female and walk handily away with awards meant for women competition.

 

"The whole thing is disgusting. It's disgraceful. It's disheartening. I've been threatened with suspension. Two weeks ago, I received a letter from my Federation, stating that I cannot call Anne a biological male. It's disheartening that the Federation allows this to happen. I am the one being punished for speaking the truth."

"Obviously, someone had to pay the price for the [International Powerlifting Federation] forcing CPU to be more female-friendly. Let this be a lesson to all female athletes to shut-up and put-up with #SexDiscrimination."

April Hutchinson, a powerlifter with the Canadian Powerlifting Union, criticized the decision to allow Andres to compete as being 'completely unfair'

First place in the Females Master Unequipped category at the Western Canadian Powerlifting & Bench Press Championships was handily won by trans power-lifter Anne Andres in the category featured for female weightlifters over age 35 who do not make use of supportive equipment like a squat suit. This is referred to as 'classic', or 'raw' weightlifting. Andres is 40 years of age. Twenty years spent as a male.

 

Andres set the Canadian national record for women's deadlift where a barbell is hoisted from ground to thigh level. It has been twenty years since Andres transitioned from male to female. Now he is set to represent Canada at the World Masters Power-lifting Championships taking place in October, and has not hesitated to state on social media that he/she is confident of winning. At the same time spurning suspicion that these wins cheat women out of hard-fought opportunities.

Sunday's Manitoba meet represents the tenth time first place has gone to Andres in a women's powerlifting category. The win spurred a tsunami of outrage by campaigners against trans athletes competing in women's categories as manifestly unfair. Women's records no longer represent training and female sport prowess since records are now being swept up by trans athletes [men] who identify as women.

 

Among those championing women competing in their own sports categories as opposed to men identifying as women taking their place are tennis icon Martina Navratilova and American competitive swimmer Riley Gaines. Both of these elite athletes have campaigned against trans women being included in women's sports. Riley Gaines identified Andres' win as evidence of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's "radical disdain for women".

 

In an interview, the win prompted a segment on British news channel TalkTV where powerlifter April Hutchinson pointed out that many female competitors choose not to compete once they're aware that they will be doing so against a transwoman. Recently, the Canadian Powerlifting Union updated their trans-inclusion policy to negate that surgery, hormone therapy or a doctor's note would be required for trans athletes to compete in a category consistent with their gender ID.

 

"Trans athletes should be able to participate in the gender with which they identify, regardless of whether or not they have undergone hormone therapy", reads the new policy. The guidelines now closely reflect the official trans recommendations developed by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, a group funded by the federal government. 

Men's powerlifter Avi Silverberg was so outraged at Andres' participation at a lifting event in Lethbridge, Alberta, that the veteran Team Canada coach identified as female for as long as it took to enable him to enter the competition, shattering the women's bench press record. Andres was present, witnessed the event, and was decidedly displeased, when the 84+ kilogram category whose record holder is Andres was shattered, calling Silverberg a 'coward and a bigot', with 'malicious intent'.

Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas has been setting new records

University of Pennsylvania swimmer Will Thomas, a tall, strapping man, distinguished himself as an athlete from 2016 to 2019 on the second-team All-Ivy League. And then something happened to convince this man that he was really a woman, after all. He is now a recognized transgender woman qualifying to compete in women's sports, and he is known as Lia Thomas.

Since his affirmation as a woman Lia has suddenly been transformed in other ways, as a swimming superstar, smashing records wherever he competes. Recently at the Zippy International in Akron, Ohio, last year's 200-yard freestyle gold medal time in the NCAA finals was bested by Thomas by seven seconds. Thomas came first in the 500-yard by more than 14 seconds, and won the 1,650-yard by 38 seconds.

Competing as a man among other men, Will Thomas was a fine athlete but no big-time winner. Now, as a woman, competing against natal women, he suddenly sweeps the podium winning gold while elite female athletes make do with silver and bronze. Lest a murmur of dissatisfaction escape the lips of born-female contestants the edifice of worship at the altar of transgenderism wreaks its vengeance on the careers of aspiring female contestants.

There was a published report of Thomas post-200-yard boasting that it "was so easy, I was cruising". Granted anonymity, a teammate spoke to sports news website OutKick that women contestants were weeping with frustration on the pool deck in the knowledge that their level of womanly strength, endurance and capability would never out-compete the transgender Thomas.

Anonymity, needless to say, in view of the fact that female athletes are cautioned not to complain to the media, airing grievances about gender-related conceptions of unfairness in competition. Back in 2006, Canadian downhill mountain bike racer Danika Schroeter stood on the podium after a race that transgender biker Michelle Dumaresq won.

 

She was silent when awarded her silver medal, but the T-shirt she wore said it all: "100% Pure Woman CHAMP 2006". In response to which she was given a three-month suspension. Which had the effect of silencing her to the extent that she withdrew from competition altogether, her career in pieces of shattered aspiration and confidence.

She had quite the record as a female sport competitor, at the top of her game; Canadian women's champion in 2003, 2004 and 2006 among other conquests attesting to her skill and competence. But that was before the zeitgeist of the times; transgender women competing in women's sports and sweeping up the medals, leaving the dredges for women.

No one wants to risk being called out as transphobic, so no protest movement appears to have materialized. Yet. Women are silent in public, seething inwardly at the social flavour of the times. Inexplicably, while it is known and recognized even by those with official status at elite levels in the sport world who argue for inclusion of trans women in women's sports, that natal males have a post-puberty physical advantage over women, its impact is set aside as inconsequential.

Recently, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute published a report titled "Fair Game: Biology fairness and transgender athletes in women's sport" written by Jon Pike, political philosopher specializing in the philosophy of sport at Open University in the U.K.; Emma Hilton, developmental biologist at University of Manchester; and Leslie Howe of the University of Saskatchewan who publishes extensively on inclusion and ethics in sports.

"The question is whether there is a justification for excluding transwomen from the protected category of women's sport. This is about rights within sport, as opposed to access to sport." It examines principles of "fairness, safety and inclusion", finding no scenario where fairness and safety for women can be guaranteed with the acceptance of trans-identifying male inclusion.

The report illuminates that the male musculoskeletal advantage is proven and disparate where performance differentials between women and natal males range from 11 percent in swimming to 120 percent in rugby, whereas, by comparison, illegal doping confers under a ten percent advantage. The report concludes that the fairest and safest solution consistent with trans inclusion would be a competitive category open to trans female competitors while preserving female competition in sport closed to trans females.
